Lemon Tree

Lemon trees grow in both dry and humid climates, and fair well in coastal areas. Lemon trees are very sensitive to cold weather and do not recover as well as the orange tree. A temperature drop below freezing can damage the wood.

The lemon tree has sharp thorns on the twigs, and can grow 10 - 20 feet tall. The flowers are mild in fragrance, have 4 or 5 long petals of white on the top and purple on the underside of the petal.

Lemon trees have many uses for human consumption, and many ways of preparing for short and long storage. Just about every part of the lemon tree is used for something, such as the leaves and twigs are used for floral perfumes and colognes, and lemon tree wood is carved into small toys and chessmen.
