Evergreen Tree

Evergreens are trees that keep all of its leaves or needles through the winter. But the trees can lose some of its needles, for example if the tree is really young it tends to lose its needles and if the trees really old it seems to lose its needles pretty fast, but these trees do not loose them all in one season like most trees. Those trees are not called evergreens.

Some evergreens need less moisture and work well on slopes. Try to avoid planting evergreens in soggy areas. If you plant an evergreen in your lawn it may not do so well because of all the moisture from the lawn to keep the lawn green.

Although, there are evergreens that need more moisture. They would work well in your lawn, but would need sod to make good root development. Most evergreens in Colorado landscapes benefit from lots of water during the winter dry spells.
