Lime Tree

There are several varieties of lime trees, but all seem to originate from either the Tahiti Lime tree (aka Bearss lime and Persian lime) or the Mexican Lime (aka key lime and West Indian lime) tree. The lime tree is very sensitive to cold temperatures and will not survive freezing temps. Lime trees should be planted in full sun.

Like all citrus trees lime trees are also evergreens with dark green leaves and lighter green underside. The lime tree will reach maturity at about two to three years old and then begin to produce fruit...limes. Lime tree flowers are white and often tinged with purple and the fruit is two to three inches in diameter.
